A critical component in becoming successful in any and every field: CONNECTION!
connection |kəˈnek sh ən|
1 a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else : theconnections between social attitudes and productivity
2 the action of linking one thing with another : connection to the Internet.
3 (connections) people with whom one has social or professional contact or to whom one is related, esp. those with influence and able to offer one help : he had connections with the music industry.
So, today’s word is connection and it’s such a powerful thing. I had an awesome conversation with a very inspiring gentleman that’s established a lofty place for himself in the professional world. I think that mentors are so important in one’s personal growth. I always say, “In order to become the best, you have to learn from the best.” I’ve had several conversations with plenty of people that I call mentors, but today’s conversation really connected some dots for me. I appreciate the fact that he offered fresh advice that I hadn’t heard twelve times before and really gave me some golden tips to help me move forward after school.
However, even though I’m talking about an encounter with a specific individual, I want to look past [definition 3] and focus on [definition 2]:
2 the action of linking one thing with another
Sometimes, I think the connections that your mentors produce within your mind are more important than the connections they offer to this stranger and that stranger. I’m looking at [definition 2] because I’m thinking about the linking of inspiration to action. When you really [learn] from the guys above you and make those important mental connections, they can take you so much farther than any introductions ever could. Actively seek out those people that help you connect the dots and see the bigger picture of success. I think I found one today. Stay focused and keep moving toward the finish line. :v
